We have a small set of Blue Sweedish ducks, they were chosen due to being a rare breed, their sweet nature, good foragers and a nice dual purpose bird (eggs and meat).
We also have a lone Pekin drake named Faith. He has an interesting story. His parents lived in a pond near my husband's family. The parents were both killed but left a nest with 2 eggs. A family friend found the eggs and put them in a bucket with a light to keep them warm. My husband's dad knew I had an incubator and brought the eggs to me. I figured they would never hatch but put them in "just in case". Amazingly one of the eggs hatched an adorable little white duck. Over a yr later, we bought a house in the country . We sold most of our ducks , chickens, Guinea Hens and turkeys before the move but kept Faith, a handful of Cochin hens and 1 rooster. Within a week of moving, a fox found our garage and killed all but 2 hens,the rooster and somehow Faith escaped with fang marks on his neck.We put him in a cage and nursed his wounds, he healed quickly. I decided to give him to a good friend that had a pond and a female duck. Sadly, faith didn't want to stay there and kept leaving the pond to be with her chickens.He also started to hitch hike down the road by her house trying to thumb a ride home. We decided he had better come home. Faith is now over 5 yrs old and happily basking in the sun in our front yard, where he will always stay.As I say to my husband now and again ,"Sometimes you just have to have a little Faith" :)

We have a pair of Blue Slates and a pair of Bourbon Reds. We hope to have poults or hatching eggs available in 2009.

We are raising a flock of rare/ heritage
breed chickens as well as some of our favorites, like Silkies.
The breeds we are raising include : Silkies (blue and black), Spangled Russian Orloffs, Javas, Iowa Blues, Cuckoo Marans,Welsummers,Blue Cochins, Chanteclers and Buckeyes. We also have several new breeds that we are trying out this year including: Cornish
